Saving energy with geofences & manual energy saving mode

Updated on 25 September 20261 min read

Besides the WiFi Energy Zones, you have two more ways to lower your tracker's battery use. You can use geofences as energy saving zones, or you can turn on the manual energy saving mode.

Geofence as an energy saving zone

A geofence can also serve as a secure zone. While your device is inside it, it only sends a position every 10 minutes and saves battery that way. When it leaves the zone, it automatically returns to the interval you have set.

We set this up for you, you cannot switch it yourself in the app. Just send us a short message through the contact page and tell us which geofence you want it for, or no longer want it for.

Important: A secure zone makes tracking in that area less precise. When your dog leaves the zone, it can therefore take up to 10 minutes until you get the notification, and short walks around the house may not be recorded. To save battery at home, WiFi Energy Zones are the better choice, as long as you have WiFi.

Manual energy saving mode

In the device settings you can turn on the manual energy saving mode. The device then updates its location only once a day. This saves a lot of battery and extends the runtime considerably.

  • In the status card on the map you see the note "Energy saving mode active" and can deactivate it right there.
  • In an emergency you can still start the Live Mode at any time, as long as the device is online.

Tip: You get the maximum battery life with the deep sleep mode (LV2 only).
